Saint Laurent in Scandicci seeks a Bag Patternmaker to develop handbag models and prototypes for the Style and Product Development teams.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Create and develop handbag patterns and digital models using CAD in accordance with directions from the Style Office.
  • Collaborate continuously and proactively with the Style Office and Product Development to translate design intent into producible patterns.
  • Oversee prototype production, ensuring prototypes match technical specifications and are delivered within required timelines.
  • Identify, manage and resolve technical or production issues arising during model development and prototyping.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patterns, revisions and technical notes to support sampling and handover to production.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in bag patternmaking or a closely related role within luxury leather goods.
  • Advanced proficiency with CAD systems for pattern development.
  • Deep technical knowledge of leathers, linings, hardware and handbag construction techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills to liaise with design and product development teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, organisational reliability and availability to meet sampling deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of English or French preferred.

Experience

At least 10 years of hands-on experience in bag patternmaking or leather goods development within a luxury fashion environment, including end-to-end prototype development and cross-functional collaboration with style and product teams.

Education

Diploma or degree in fashion design, patternmaking, leather goods technology or equivalent vocational training; or equivalent professional experience in luxury accessories development.
