Sephora — Remote (USA): Director, Employee Relations & HR Compliance. Lead ER strategy, multi-state HR compliance and investigations for FSC, retail and distribution centers.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide employee relations and HR compliance strategies covering FSC, retail and distribution centers to mitigate risk and enable business objectives.
  • Lead and oversee complex workplace investigations, conflict mediation, disciplinary actions and performance management to ensure consistent, legally sound outcomes.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state and local employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA, wage & hour) and update policies as legal landscapes evolve.
  • Analyze ER and compliance metrics to identify trends and design proactive, enterprise initiatives to reduce exposure and improve employee experience.
  • Design, communicate and deliver targeted training and guidance for HR teams, people leaders and business stakeholders on ER and compliance topics.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Labor Relations and senior business leaders to align policy application and support company initiatives.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership and the SVP, Talent on ER risks, remediation strategies and policy implications.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing ER/compliance team, fostering accountability, collaboration and continuous professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Employee Relations, HR compliance or related HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a retail environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-state employment laws and HR compliance, specifically EEO, ADA, FMLA and wage & hour matters.
  • Proven track record managing sensitive workplace investigations and resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Experience leading and developing teams (manages ~6 direct reports and ~10 indirect reports) and driving organizational change in matrixed environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline; advanced HR certifications or degree preferred.

Experience

At least 10 years of progressive experience in employee relations or HR compliance, with a minimum of 5 years in a retail setting and a history of leading teams and resolving complex ER matters across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
