Apprentice Mechanical Technician (Watchmaking)

Role & Responsibilities

• Produce components for watch movements using a range of machining and production methods.
• Prepare and set up tools, jigs and materials required for manufacturing operations.
• Operate manual and semi‑automated machining equipment safely and to specification.
• Ensure the dimensional and surface quality of produced parts through inspection and measurement.
• Follow work instructions, manufacturing documentation and quality procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on assigned machines and tooling.
• Record production data and communicate defects or process deviations to trainers or supervisors.
• Participate in vocational training sessions and apply theoretical instruction to workshop practice.

Qualifications

• Strong manual dexterity and fine motor control.
• High degree of precision, discipline and attention to detail.
• Logical, methodical mindset with good problem‑solving ability.
• Genuine interest in metalworking, industrial equipment and precision mechanics.
• Submission of CV, cover letter and school reports for the last three academic years as part of the application.

Skills

Experience

No prior professional experience required; the apprenticeship is targeted at school leavers and candidates with an interest in precision mechanics. Practical aptitude and academic school reports are considered during selection.

Education

Completed compulsory schooling; application to an AFP (apprenticeship) programme — candidates must provide their school reports from the previous three years.
