Richemont is hiring a Watchmaker in Tokyo — skilled technician for servicing and restoring luxury mechanical timepieces.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service and repair high‑end mechanical watches to brand standards, including disassembly, cleaning, replacement of worn parts and reassembly.
  • Regulate and time movements using timing machines; ensure compliance with precision and water‑resistance specifications.
  • Perform quality control and final inspection of serviced timepieces, documenting work and maintaining accurate service records.
  • Execute restorations and complex repairs on vintage and in‑house calibres in accordance with maison procedures and spare‑parts policies.
  • Maintain and calibrate workshop equipment (timing machine, demagnetizer, ultrasonic cleaner) and uphold a clean, organized bench.
  • Collaborate with boutique service teams and customer relations to clarify technical findings and estimated repair timelines.

Qualifications

  • Professional watchmaking diploma or equivalent vocational qualification (WOSTEP, BHI or comparable).
  • Demonstrable expertise with mechanical calibres and small‑parts handling.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, visual acuity and precision under magnification.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and methodical approach to diagnostics and restoration.
  • Commitment to following brand technical procedures, documentation and confidentiality regarding proprietary movements.

Experience

Typically 3+ years of hands‑on experience servicing luxury mechanical watches — including experience with in‑house calibres or restorations is highly desirable.
