Maintenance Automation Technician

Role & Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain automated production equipment to ensure high availability and product quality.
• Program, modify and troubleshoot PLCs and HMI systems to optimise machine performance and resolve faults.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, regular inspections and corrective interventions according to established schedules and KPIs.
• Commission and validate new machines and automation systems in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
• Read and update electrical and pneumatic schematics, maintain accurate technical documentation and maintenance logs.
• Perform root-cause analysis of recurring faults and implement lasting corrective actions.
• Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with external vendors for specialised repairs.
• Ensure compliance with electrical and machine-safety regulations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering or equivalent vocational qualification.
• Practical knowledge of PLC logic, HMI interfaces and industrial control systems.
• Proven ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic diagrams and perform systematic fault-finding.
• Familiarity with machine commissioning procedures and preventive maintenance methodologies.
• Valid electrical safety authorisation or equivalent (where required by local regulation) and strong commitment to workplace safety.

Skills

Experience

Typically 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and equipment maintenance within a manufacturing environment; experience with high-precision production or watchmaking-related processes is an advantage.

Education

Vocational diploma or technician certificate in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
