Legal Counsel
Richemont seeks a Legal Counsel in New York to advise on commercial, IP and cross‑border matters for its luxury maisons.
Overview
Richemont is a global luxury goods group comprising leading maisons across jewellery, watches, leather goods and writing instruments. The group combines artisanal craftsmanship with international distribution and operates a decentralized model in which individual maisons retain creative autonomy while benefiting from Richemont’s corporate, legal and operational infrastructure.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to commercial teams across product, retail, marketing and e‑commerce on contracts, promotions and channel strategies.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including supply, distribution, licensing, agency and service agreements.
- Own intellectual property‑related matters in collaboration with IP specialists: trademark clearance, enforcement, policing and portfolio management support.
- Manage outside counsel and litigation matters, controlling budget, strategy and outcomes in coordination with local and group legal teams.
- Support compliance initiatives including data protection, advertising law, consumer protection and trade sanctions; identify and mitigate regulatory risk.
- Advise on cross‑border transactions and coordinate multi‑jurisdictional legal workstreams with regional counsel and external advisers.
- Translate legal risk into practical solutions for business stakeholders and drive timely decision‑making under commercial constraints.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree and admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction (New York bar preferred).
- Typically 4–8 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department, with demonstrated experience on commercial contracts and IP matters.
- Proven track record negotiating complex commercial and licensing agreements on behalf of consumer or luxury goods clients is highly desirable.
- Strong drafting skills, commercial judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience supervising outside counsel, managing budgets and driving efficient litigation or enforcement strategies.

Mid‑level legal experience (commonly 4–8 years) gained in a reputable law firm or in‑house environment, advising on commercial contracts, IP, licensing and cross‑border matters; prior exposure to luxury, retail or consumer goods is advantageous.
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent; admission to the bar of a relevant US jurisdiction (New York preferred).
