Experienced Polisher

Role & Responsibilities

• Execute precision surface finishing on small luxury components—manual and machine polishing of precious metals and alloys to atelier quality standards.
• Interpret production drawings and finishing instructions to achieve specified surface textures, radii and mirror finishes.
• Select and apply appropriate abrasives, compounds and polishing media; set up and operate polishing motors, lathes and lapping machines.
• Perform visual and tactile inspection of finished parts; detect and correct surface defects, scratches or tool marks before assembly.
• Maintain polishing tools, consumables and workstation orderliness; ensure calibration and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Collaborate closely with benchmakers, stone setters and quality control teams to meet production schedules and consistency targets.
• Document work performed and nonconformities; contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce rework and improve yields.
• Comply with atelier safety, ergonomic and environmental procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and dust extraction systems.

Qualifications

• Vocational qualification in horology, jewellery-making or metalworking (CAP/BEP or equivalent) or demonstrable professional apprenticeship experience.
• Minimum three years’ proven experience in polishing within luxury jewellery or watchmaking ateliers (experience with precious metals preferred).
• Excellent manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination and keen visual acuity for fine surface assessment.
• Knowledge of abrasives, polishing compounds, buffing wheels, lapping techniques and surface finishing processes.
• Familiarity with atelier quality standards and ability to read technical drawings and finishing specifications.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, cleanliness and consistent quality delivery.

Typically requires at least 3 years of hands‑on polishing experience in luxury jewellery or watchmaking ateliers, demonstrating consistent delivery of high‑quality finishes on precious metal components.

Education

Vocational diploma in jewellery-making, horology or metalwork (CAP/BEP or equivalent) preferred; equivalent professional apprenticeship or on‑the‑job training accepted.
