Montblanc in Hamburg seeks a Trade Compliance Coordinator to manage customs, export controls and licence processes for global operations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day‑to‑day import/export operations to ensure adherence to applicable customs, export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Classify products for customs purposes, maintain commodity (HS) codes and support tariff and origin determinations.
  • Manage licensing and authorization processes, including export licences, restricted party screening and usage tracking of dual‑use controls.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders (logistics, procurement, legal, sales) to resolve clearance and documentation issues.
  • Maintain and update internal trade compliance procedures, playbooks and recordkeeping to meet regulatory retention requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits, prepare compliance reports, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Deliver targeted training and guidance to business units on trade compliance topics and pre‑shipment checks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, process standardisation and system implementations related to trade controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, international trade, business, supply chain or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Solid knowledge of customs and export control frameworks (EU customs law, export controls, sanctions regimes and Incoterms).
  • Practical experience with customs classification (HS codes), licence management and restricted party screening.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate across logistics, legal and commercial teams.
  • Analytical mindset, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
  • Professional proficiency in English; German language skills preferred given the Hamburg location.

Experience
