Montblanc Senior Buyer role in Hamburg — lead strategic sourcing and category management for luxury accessories at Montblanc in Hamburg.
Overview
Montblanc is an established luxury maison known for its writing instruments, leather goods, watches and accessories. As part of the Richemont group, the brand combines traditional European craftsmanship with contemporary design and international distribution across boutiques and wholesale channels.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and execute category sourcing and assortment strategies for assigned product groups, aligning with brand positioning and commercial targets.
- Manage end-to-end supplier relationships: identify and develop vendors, lead negotiations on price, lead times and contractual terms, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Own purchase planning and replenishment processes to optimise inventory, margin and sell-through; collaborate with Merchandising and Planning to set buy plans and open-to-buy.
- Drive cost-down initiatives and margin improvement programs while maintaining product integrity and brand standards.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Quality Assurance and Logistics to ensure on-time product launches and compliance with specifications.
- Prepare and present business cases, category reviews and purchasing KPIs to senior management; monitor supplier performance and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with sourcing policies, regulatory requirements and sustainability objectives; participate in supplier audits and risk mitigation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Fashion, Textile Technology or equivalent; advanced degree or specialised training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ buying or procurement experience within luxury fashion, leather goods or accessories, with proven commercial results.
- Demonstrable track record in supplier negotiation, cost-management and assortment planning for premium brands.
- Strong understanding of product development cycles, quality control protocols and international sourcing markets.
- Excellent analytical capability and commercial acumen; ability to synthesise market data into actionable buying plans.
Skills
Experience
At least 5 years’ progressive buying or procurement experience in the luxury fashion or accessories sector, with direct responsibility for supplier negotiation, assortment management and inventory control.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Fashion/Textiles or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience considered.
