Montblanc in Hamburg seeks a Buyer to manage luxury product assortments, supplier negotiations and commercial performance.
Overview
Montblanc is a heritage luxury maison renowned for writing instruments, leather goods, timepieces and accessories. Operating within the high-luxury segment and part of the Richemont Group, the brand combines craftsmanship, design-led product development and an international retail footprint.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and manage product assortments and seasonal ranges to meet brand positioning and commercial targets.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships; negotiate commercial terms, lead times and quality standards.
- Produce sales forecasts, manage stock levels and implement replenishment strategies to optimise sell-through and inventory turnover.
- Translate trend insights and market intelligence into actionable buying plans and product briefs in collaboration with design and product development.
- Monitor margin, pricing and promotional performance; deliver on P&L targets and KPIs.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with merchandising, retail, marketing and logistics to ensure timely product launches and distribution.
- Manage vendor compliance, quality control and product lifecycle from assortment selection through to markdown and clearance management.
- Prepare regular reporting and analysis for leadership, including sales vs. plan, stock ageing and KPI dashboards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion/Design, Merchandising or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven commercial acumen with experience in assortment planning, costing and margin management.
- Strong negotiation skills and track record managing supplier partnerships.
- Excellent analytical ability with comfort working from sales and inventory data to drive decisions.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple product categories and deadlines.
Skills
Experience
Mid-level buying experience in fashion or luxury retail, typically 3–5 years managing product assortments, supplier negotiations and commercial performance. Experience with premium or luxury brands and international sourcing is strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion, Merchandising, Textiles or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
