Michael Kors seeks an Assistant Designer, Structured Wovens in the NY Metro Area. 1+ years, PLM and Adobe Illustrator experience; hybrid schedule.

Overview

Role & Responsibilities

  • Interpret and translate the Michael Kors aesthetic into seasonal woven garments and collections.
  • Conduct seasonal, trend and market research to inform concept and line direction.
  • Create in-house design mockups, flat sketches and technical drawings for woven styles.
  • Participate in proto and production fittings; document fit and construction comments and communicate them to cross‑functional teams and overseas vendors.
  • Develop and maintain tech packs through PLM from proto to bulk production.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator to generate CADs, flats and seasonal build-outs; organise artwork and library assets.
  • Curate digital mood boards and organise sketches and inspiration using Figma.
  • Manage digital asset libraries, shared drives and seasonal file structures to enable cross‑team collaboration.
  • Liaise daily with global vendors and internal stakeholders to manage updates, requests and project timelines.
  • Support administrative tasks including meeting preparation, email coordination and upkeep of design documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ year of relevant apparel design or technical development experience with strong technical knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of garment construction and woven fabric behavior.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop; competency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with PLM systems, preferably Centric PLM, to create and maintain tech packs.
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management, and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to work on-site approximately 3–5 days per week as required for fittings and team collaboration.

Experience

At least one year of hands-on experience in apparel design or technical development with demonstrated technical garment knowledge, experience in woven construction, and participation in proto and production fittings. Experience coordinating with vendors and cross‑functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment is required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel/Textile Technology, or related discipline preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
