Materials Innovation Intern
LVMH Recherche seeks a Materials Innovation Intern in Saint-Jean-de-Braye (France) for the Parfums & Cosmétiques Innovation Process & Packaging lab (alternance).
Overview
LVMH Recherche is the research and innovation centre serving the Houses of LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics. It brings together multidisciplinary scientists and technical specialists to develop advanced ingredients, formulations and processes for luxury fragrance, skincare and makeup. As part of the LVMH group, the organisation operates in close collaboration with internal brands and external partners to translate scientific advances into market-ready products and premium packaging solutions.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct bibliographic research and state-of-the-art analyses to identify emerging materials and technologies relevant to cosmetic packaging.
- Draft technical specifications (cahier des charges) that capture desired functional properties and regulatory constraints.
- Screen suppliers, maintain and update a materials mapping, and assess supplier dossiers and initial technical/regulatory documents.
- Liaise with material suppliers and coordinate partner collaborations to prototype and shape selected materials.
- Design and perform mechanical tests and organise validation with internal expert teams (compatibility, analytical chemistry, toxicology).
- Analyse, structure and synthesize experimental results to shortlist the most pertinent materials for further development.
- Prepare and animate regular technical reporting and progress meetings for project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in or candidate for a Bac+5 programme (Master’s or Engineering degree) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymers or Packaging engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in materials chemistry and innovation-driven research projects.
- Good level of English to read technical literature and interact with international suppliers.
- Well organised, versatile, rigorous and intellectually curious with strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Skills
Experience
Entry-level position open to students or recent graduates; no specific professional experience required. Prior internships, academic research projects or laboratory coursework in materials, polymer science or packaging are advantageous.
Education
Master’s degree or Engineering degree (Bac+5) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science or Packaging.
