Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain finance systems for the charity.
  • Lead the annual budget and reforecast process, collaborating closely with the Chief Executive on financial planning and forecasting.
  • Conduct financial modeling and analysis to support management decision-making for both Laureus entities and individual fundraising events.
  • Enhance finance procedures and processes as required.
  • Prepare and report monthly management accounts and oversee all finance functions, with payroll outsourced.
  • Lead external audits and prepare year-end statutory accounts.
  • Prepare reports for the Board of Trustees and attend Finance sub-committee meetings.
  • Participate in weekly executive team meetings and provide finance updates at Trustee meetings.
  • Manage financial reporting and statutory requirements for all Laureus entities.
  • Oversee the year-end process and prepare statutory accounts for Laureus World Sports Awards, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, and Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation.
  • Manage and complete yearly external audits for Laureus entities.
  • Conduct monthly budget and variance analysis, assisting the foundation Chief Executive in financial decision-making.
  • Handle quarterly VAT returns and other HMRC compliance lodgements.
  • Ensure compliance with Companies House for all Laureus group entities.
  • Prepare and post monthly payroll journals.
  • Maintain tax compliance and prepare year-end tax files for PWC.
  • Enhance management accounting expertise among budget holders, particularly within Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc finance communications regarding budget management and key finance procedures.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with senior-level experience.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is desirable.
  • Proven experience in leading external audits and preparing statutory financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of compliance for incorporated charities, including managing restricted funding and projects.

Skills

Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical matters to non-finance individuals. Proficiency in accounting software and strong MS Excel skills for handling high-volume transaction data and budget preparation. Experience in change management and process improvement. Expertise in budgeting, management account preparation, and variance analysis. Team management and development skills.

Experience

Senior-level experience as a qualified accountant, preferably within a not-for-profit environment.

Education

Qualified accountant certification.
