Role & Responsibilities

  • Greet customers, assess needs and provide personalised advice on cheese selection, provenance and pairings.
  • Portion, weigh and package cheeses to order, ensuring attractive presentation and correct labelling.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and process transactions accurately.
  • Maintain display counters using merchandising standards and ensure rotation to minimise waste.
  • Adhere to food-safety and hygiene protocols (HACCP practices), including regular cleaning and temperature control.
  • Support stock receipt, inventory counts and supplier deliveries.
  • Participate in formal training and on-the-job learning as part of the apprenticeship curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for enrolment in an alternance/apprenticeship programme (CAP/BEP or equivalent vocational pathway).
  • Strong customer-service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Basic numeracy for weighing and pricing items; attention to detail for labelling and portioning.
  • Commitment to food-safety standards and ability to follow hygiene procedures.
