Overview

ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse is a Swiss movement and component manufacturer specialising in high‑precision watch movements and assemblies. Part of the Swatch Group, ETA supplies Swiss‑made horological technology and industrial expertise to numerous watch brands and maintains a strong engineering and manufacturing tradition focused on precision, reliability and continuous improvement.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Automation team in the design, integration and commissioning of mobile robots and automated cells for watch movement production.
  • Program, configure and test robot behaviours and motion sequences; perform on‑site tuning and validation in the production environment.
  • Contribute to safety assessments and ensure robotic systems comply with industrial safety standards and shop‑floor constraints.
  • Collect and analyse performance data; generate reports and technical documentation to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams (mechatronics, PLC, production) to resolve integration issues and optimise production flow.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's programme in mechatronics, robotics, automation, mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
  • Practical experience with robot systems or automation projects gained through coursework, laboratory work or internships.
  • Good analytical skills and a methodical approach to testing, tuning and troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems.
  • Effective communication skills in a multidisciplinary technical environment and readiness to work on‑site in Grenchen.

Skills

Mobile robot integration Robot programming (industrial robot arms/mobile robots) ROS (Robot Operating System) PLC programming Python CAD fundamentals (e.g. SolidWorks) and technical documentation

Experience

Academic project or prior internship experience with robotic systems, automation projects or mechatronic prototypes; hands‑on exposure to system commissioning and on‑floor testing is highly advantageous.

Education

Currently pursuing a degree in mechatronics, robotics, automation, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
