Delvaux is hiring a Merchandising Manager in Tokyo — lead assortment, inventory and commercial strategy for the Japan market.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the commercial merchandising strategy for the Japan market, aligning assortments, pricing and sell-through targets with global directives.
  • Build seasonal range plans and product calendars across ready-to-wear accessories and leather goods to maximize margin and sell-through.
  • Manage inventory levels and replenishment cycles to optimize stock-to-sales ratios and minimize aged inventory.
  • Own financial planning and forecasting for assortment categories, tracking KPIs (sell-through, GM%, weeks of supply, markdowns) and translating insight into action.
  • Collaborate with design, supply chain and retail teams to prioritize product launches, allocation and visual merchandising standards.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with distributors and wholesale partners; manage retail allocation and assortment distribution across channels.
  • Lead and mentor a small merchandising team or cross-functional project groups; establish processes for range review and post-season analysis.
  • Drive on-the-ground market intelligence gathering — competitor activity, local trends and customer behaviour — to inform product decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, fashion merchandising, marketing or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Proven track record in merchandising within the luxury leather goods, accessories or fashion sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable experience managing assortment, margin and inventory targets.
  • Experience leading or mentoring small teams and working cross-functionally with design, retail and supply chain.
  • Excellent analytical and numeracy skills; ability to translate sales data into actionable merchandising decisions.
  • Effective negotiation and stakeholder-management capabilities; comfort engaging with retail partners and suppliers.

Experience

Typically requires 5+ years of progressive merchandising experience in luxury fashion, accessories or leather goods, with responsibility for assortment planning, financial targets and cross-channel distribution. Prior exposure to the Japan or APAC market is highly desirable.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising, fashion or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
