Director, Internal Control & Paralegal

Role & Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain the internal control framework across finance, operations and commercial processes to mitigate material risks and strengthen control environment.
- Lead the paralegal function, providing day-to-day legal support on commercial contracts, distribution agreements, IP matters, and litigation management.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, liaising with external auditors and supervising remediation plans for control deficiencies.
- Perform risk assessments and process mapping; propose and oversee control design, testing programs and continuous monitoring activities.
- Advise senior management and business units on regulatory, compliance and corporate governance matters; prepare clear management reporting on control posture.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory bodies; oversee legal spend and ensure timely escalation of legal risks.
- Develop and deliver training for business teams on contract best practices, controls awareness and regulatory obligations.
- Supervise, mentor and develop a small cross-functional team of legal and internal control professionals.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Law, Business, Finance or equivalent (e.g. Master 2 / LL.M.) with strong grounding in corporate and commercial law.
- Proven leadership capacity with experience managing legal/paralegal and/or internal control teams.
- Deep knowledge of contract law, corporate governance and regulatory compliance applicable to retail and luxury sectors.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in process mapping, risk assessment and audit coordination.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills; ability to translate legal and control requirements into pragmatic business processes.
Skills
Experience
Minimum of eight years' progressive experience in legal, compliance or internal control roles, ideally within retail, luxury goods or a consumer-facing multinational. Prior experience overseeing audits, managing paralegal teams and implementing control frameworks is expected.
Education
Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent (e.g., Master 2, LL.M.). Professional certifications in internal audit, compliance or related fields are a plus.
