Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct toxicological assessments and risk evaluations of raw materials intended for cosmetics, fragrances and related products.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation including Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs), ingredient dossiers and input for regulatory submissions.
  • Interpret and integrate data from in vitro / in vivo studies, QSAR models and published literature to support safety conclusions.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory frameworks and scientific guidance (EU Cosmetics Regulation, REACH, CLP, SCCS) and translate impacts for R&D and regulatory teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, regulatory affairs, sourcing and external laboratories to qualify suppliers and resolve safety issues.
  • Perform exposure assessments and margin of safety calculations for intended uses and formulations.
  • Contribute to internal risk management strategies, product launch reviews and supplier audits where relevant.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to non-toxicology stakeholders and support responses to regulatory inquiries or customer questions.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Toxicology, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Chemistry or equivalent discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of toxicology principles, hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with EU cosmetics and chemical regulatory frameworks and guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills and scientific rigour with ability to interpret diverse toxicological data.
  • Excellent written reporting and presentation skills; ability to work collaboratively across functions.

Experience

Typically 3–5 years of professional experience in cosmetic ingredient safety, product toxicology, regulatory safety assessment or a related role within industry or a specialised consultancy.

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Toxicology, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
