Senior Accountant
Chanel is hiring a Senior Accountant in Istanbul to manage month-end close, IFRS reporting and financial controls.

Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and execute monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities; prepare and review financial statements and management packs in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, fixed asset register, accruals and prepayments; resolve complex balance sheet reconciling items.
- Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations and settlements; ensure timely and accurate transfer pricing documentation and entries.
- Prepare VAT, tax and statutory schedules; liaise with external advisors to ensure compliance with Turkish tax and reporting requirements.
- Own account reconciliations and cash reporting; support treasury connectivity with regional operations.
- Coordinate and support external and statutory audits; prepare audit schedules, responses and corrective action plans.
- Design, document and enforce internal controls and accounting policies; contribute to SOX and control-compliance programs where applicable.
- Drive process improvement and system optimisation projects, including SAP configuration, automation and reporting enhancements.
- Review and mentor junior accounting staff; allocate tasks, deliver constructive feedback and ensure technical development.
- Partner with regional finance, retail operations and Paris headquarters to deliver ad hoc analyses, forecasts and business insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; professional accounting qualification preferred (ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
- Deep technical knowledge of IFRS and Turkish GAAP, with demonstrable experience preparing statutory and management reports.
- Proven competency in month-end and year-end close processes, reconciliations and audit preparation.
- Experience with SAP (FI/CO) and advanced Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP implementations and reporting tools.
- High standards of integrity, discretion and the ability to manage confidential financial information.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the capacity to prioritise in a fast-paced luxury retail environment.
- Professional-level communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors; ability to mentor junior staff.
Skills
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a multinational, retail or luxury-goods environment, with exposure to statutory reporting, audits and intercompany processes.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA or equivalent) preferred.
