Chanel seeks a People Operations Manager in New York to lead HRIS, payroll and employee lifecycle management for the US organisation.

Role & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end HR operations for the New York organisation including HRIS administration, payroll coordination, benefits administration and workforce data integrity.
- Partner with business leaders and HR partners to deliver scalable people processes across the employee lifecycle: onboarding, performance management, mobility and offboarding.
- Own HRIS configuration, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives; translate HR data into actionable insights and key metrics for senior stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment regulations (New York) and maintain up-to-date employee records and documentation.
- Drive operational projects such as HR process standardisation, HRIS enhancements, and HR automation to improve service delivery and efficiency.
- Supervise relationships with external vendors (payroll providers, benefits brokers) and oversee timely execution of monthly payroll and benefit changes.
- Coach and mentor junior HR team members; promote best practices in employee relations, case management and conflict resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline; advanced degree or HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- Demonstrable experience with HRIS platforms and payroll/benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of US federal, state and New York employment law and HR compliance requirements.
- Proven capability to manage cross-functional projects and to synthesise HR data into executive-level reporting.
Skills
Experience
Approximately 5–8 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in HR operations or people operations management; experience within luxury retail, fashion, or consumer goods preferred. Prior responsibility for HRIS administration, payroll coordination and compliance in a US environment is expected.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
