People & Organisation Generalist — Retail
Chanel is hiring a People & Organisation Generalist (Retail) in Victoria, Canada. Mid-level HR role supporting store teams and employee relations.

Role & Responsibilities
- Partner with store leadership to deliver end-to-end HR support for retail teams, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and succession planning.
- Manage employee relations matters at store level with professionalism and discretion; investigate issues, propose resolutions and escalate to senior HR where necessary.
- Support workforce planning and rostering in alignment with sales objectives and compliance with local labour regulations.
- Administer HR processes: contracts, probation reviews, promotions, terminations and record-keeping ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Coordinate learning and development initiatives for retail staff, including induction, product and service training and continuous coaching programs.
- Produce regular HR reporting and metrics (turnover, absenteeism, headcount) to inform local management and regional People & Organisation teams.
- Advise on local employment law and internal policy compliance; liaise with payroll and HRIS teams to resolve pay, benefits and timekeeping queries.
- Contribute to change-management projects and local implementation of global HR programs and employer-brand initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline; professional HR certification preferred (e.g., CHRP, CIPD).
- Strong knowledge of local employment legislation and retail labour practices.
- Demonstrable capability managing employee relations and disciplinary processes with confidentiality and sound judgement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing at store-manager level and building trusted relationships across functions.

Experience
Typically 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within retail or luxury goods. Prior exposure to store operations, frontline people management and local labour relations is highly desirable.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; professional HR certification preferred.
