Makeup Formulation Innovation Technician
Chanel in Pantin seeks a Makeup Formulation Innovation Technician (CDI) to join R&D and develop next‑generation colour cosmetics.

Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize makeup (colour cosmetics) formulations at laboratory scale, including foundations, concealers, lip products, eye products and powders.
- Design and execute stability, compatibility and accelerated ageing studies; analyse results and recommend formulation or packaging adjustments.
- Prepare technical samples and prototypes for sensory evaluation, internal reviews and external testing panels.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (R&D, regulatory, quality, packaging, industrialisation and sourcing) to ensure feasibility and compliance.
- Support scale-up and transfer to pilot and industrial production; produce complete technical documentation and batch records.
- Maintain laboratory best practices: inventory of raw materials, calibration of equipment, adherence to GMP / ISO 22716 and safety protocols.
- Contribute to innovation scouting by testing novel ingredients, textures and delivery systems and documenting learnings for future projects.
Qualifications
- Degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Materials Science, or equivalent technical diploma.
- Practical knowledge of colour cosmetics formulation and raw material functionality.
- Familiarity with regulatory and quality frameworks applicable to cosmetics (e.g., ISO 22716 / GMP, INCI nomenclature).
- Strong laboratory discipline with experience producing reproducible technical documentation and batch records.
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑disciplinary collaboration and reporting.
Skills
Experience
Several years (typically 2–5+) of hands‑on experience in cosmetic formulation or R&D, with demonstrable work on colour cosmetics and involvement in sample preparation, stability testing and industrialisation activities.
Education
Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Materials Science or equivalent.
