Chanel seeks a Junior Accountant (temporary contract) in Milan to support AP/AR, month-end close and accounting operations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries and maintain the general ledger in accordance with company accounting policies.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions; ensure timely supplier payments and customer receipts.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations and routine intercompany reconciliations.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including accruals, account analysis and variance investigation.
  • Assist with VAT and basic tax reporting preparation and ensure statutory compliance for local filings.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and support capital expenditure accounting as required.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (store, operations, logistics) and external auditors to provide documentation and explanations.
  • Contribute to process improvements and adherence to internal controls and finance policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent.
  • Professional training or foundational certification in accounting principles preferred.
  • Strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail and analytical rigour.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and respect for confidentiality when handling financial data.

Experience

1–3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within retail, luxury goods, or a commercial environment; experience with month-end close and reconciliations is expected.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent.
