Chanel seeks an IT Data Compliance Manager in Neuilly-sur-Seine to lead global IT data protection and compliance programmes.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and operationalize global IT data protection and compliance programmes (including GDPR and other applicable privacy laws) across corporate and commercial IT environments.
  • Design, maintain and enforce policies, standards and procedures for processing personal data within IT systems and cloud services; ensure alignment with Legal and Information Security.
  • Conduct and oversee data mapping, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments for new and existing IT projects and third‑party integrations.
  • Manage vendor and third‑party data protection due diligence, contractual clauses, and ongoing monitoring for IT suppliers and cloud providers.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional incident response for data breaches involving IT systems, including reporting, remediation and regulatory liaison.
  • Deliver training, awareness and communications to IT teams and business stakeholders on privacy-by-design, secure data handling and compliance obligations.
  • Define KPIs and reporting for data compliance, lead audits and remedial action plans, and present findings to senior management and governance bodies.
  • Supervise or mentor junior compliance resources and collaborate with Legal, InfoSec, Risk and business units to embed privacy controls into IT delivery.

Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge of EU GDPR and international data protection laws, with ability to interpret and translate legal requirements into operational controls.
  • Experience implementing privacy-by-design and privacy engineering practices in IT landscapes, including cloud and SaaS ecosystems.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting DPIAs, data mapping and privacy risk assessments for complex, cross-border processing.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working alongside Legal, IT security, procurement and product teams in multinational contexts.
  • Professional certifications preferred: CIPP/E, CIPM, or ISO 27001 lead implementer/auditor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with capacity to produce clear policy documents and executive reporting.

Experience

Typically 5+ years of progressive experience in data protection, privacy or IT compliance, including hands‑on delivery of privacy programmes and at least some experience in a managerial or lead capacity; experience in multinational or luxury retail environments is advantageous.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science or a related discipline; advanced degree or specialised privacy qualification preferred.
