Chanel seeks a Couturier Fitter & Alterations Specialist in Paris (Avenue Montaigne) — permanent position for an experienced couture tailor.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct client fittings at the Avenue Montaigne location, advising on silhouette, fit and finishing while preserving the designer’s intent.
  • Execute precision couture alterations and repairs by hand and machine, including fitting adjustments, hemming, padstitching, underlining and invisible finishes.
  • Interpret patterns and make pattern modifications to achieve perfect fit across a range of couture and ready-to-wear constructions.
  • Work closely with the boutique team, ateliers and production to track alteration requests, timelines and quality control.
  • Prepare garments for delivery: final pressing, finishing, quality inspection and packaging to brand standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records of measurements, alteration histories and client preferences while ensuring discretion and client confidentiality.
  • Recommend fabric-appropriate techniques and liaise with suppliers or in-house specialists for complex repairs (linings, embellishments, leather).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of fitting protocols and uphold strict housekeeping and tool maintenance in the fitting room/atelier.

Qualifications

  • Professional training in tailoring or couture (CAP, equivalent vocational diploma or formal apprenticeship preferred).
  • Proven ability to execute couture hand-stitching and finishing techniques to luxury house standards.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern alteration and fabric behaviour (silk, wool, tweed, leather).
  • Excellent client-facing manner, discretion and ability to collaborate with sales and atelier teams.
  • Fluency with precise measurement-taking and documentary habits for client records.

Experience
