Chanel in Paris seeks a Couture Fitter & Alterations Tailor — perform couture fittings and high-end alterations for the Maison.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise client and mannequin fittings, record measurements and propose modifications to achieve exacting silhouette and fit standards.
  • Execute complex couture alterations by hand and machine, including basting, pad-stitching, hand-finishing, hemming and seam work.
  • Interpret designer instructions and adjustment notes from the atelier or boutique; adapt patterns and prototypes when required.
  • Collaborate closely with atelier teams, designers and client advisors to ensure timely delivery and consistency with brand standards.
  • Maintain quality control for all altered garments, ensuring finish, drape and construction meet Maison expectations.
  • Manage alteration workflow, track work orders, prioritize urgent client requests and meet scheduled delivery times.
  • Care for and maintain tools, equipment and materials; ensure a neat, safe and confidential working environment.
  • Provide discreet, client-facing service during fittings, advising on fit solutions while preserving the couture experience.

Qualifications

  • Professional diploma or apprenticeship in tailoring, couture or garment construction, or equivalent vocational training.
  • Demonstrable mastery of couture techniques: hand-sewing, basting, pad-stitching, couture hemming and fine finishing.
  • Proven ability to interpret patterns and to adjust garments for bespoke fits while preserving original design intent.
  • Strong eye for detail, excellent manual dexterity and high standards of finish appropriate to luxury apparel.
  • Professional manner with the ability to interact courteously and discreetly with high-net-worth clients; French language skills desirable.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in an atelier environment and to manage multiple alteration assignments under time constraints.

Experience
