Chanel in Pantin seeks an Alternance Collections Documentation apprentice (Sept 2026) to support corporate archives, digitization and metadata management.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Catalogue and index corporate documentary collections, ensuring accurate metadata and consistent application of classification standards.
  • Support digitization workflows: prepare, scan, and quality-check image and document files for the corporate Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.
  • Maintain and update inventory records and finding aids for photographic, printed and audiovisual materials.
  • Process research and internal requests from stakeholders (heritage, communications, marketing, product teams) and prepare documentation dossiers.
  • Assist with rights management checks and basic copyright documentation for archive materials.
  • Participate in preservation and storage tasks, including quality control of physical holdings and adherence to conservation protocols.
  • Contribute to projects such as exhibitions, internal presentations or themed compilations by compiling materials and producing descriptive notes.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Library and Information Science, Archival Studies, Documentation, Cultural Heritage, Museum Studies or a closely related field (required for alternance).
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to descriptive accuracy and metadata consistency.
  • Good editorial sense and experience preparing written catalogue entries or descriptive notes.
  • Capacity to manage multiple requests and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven corporate environment.
  • Interest in fashion heritage, visual culture and corporate archives.

Skills

Cataloguing and indexing Metadata standards (e.g. Dublin Core, IPTC) and controlled vocabularies Digital asset management concepts and digitization workflows Document preservation and archival handling Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) — for inventories and reporting Strong attention to detail and editorial accuracy

Experience

Previous internship or coursework experience in archives, libraries, museums or documentation centres is desirable but not mandatory; the role is designed for a student in an alternance program seeking practical, hands-on experience with corporate collections and DAM workflows.

Education

Enrolment in a higher-education program in Library/Information Science, Archival Studies, Documentation, Cultural Heritage, Museum Studies or equivalent (required for alternance).
