Role & Responsibilities

  • Support senior retoucheurs/couturiers with fitting sessions, garment pinning and on-body adjustments.
  • Execute hand-sewing and machine-sewing operations for alterations, mending and finishing under supervision.
  • Prepare and organise garments for client appointments, ensuring impeccable presentation and tracking alteration requests.
  • Assist with pressing, steaming and final quality checks to meet couture standards before client return.
  • Maintain the atelier workspace and tools to the highest standards of cleanliness, order and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with ateliers and customer relations teams to respect delivery deadlines and client instructions.

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in or recent completion of a vocational programme in tailoring, couture, fashion or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable manual dexterity and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with couture techniques and respect for high-quality finishing standards.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism when handling client garments and data.
  • Flexible attitude and capacity to work within a fast-paced atelier environment.

Skills

Hand-sewing techniques (invisible hems, slip-stitching, hand basting) Machine sewing (industrial straight stitch and overlock machines) Pattern alteration and fitting adjustments Garment pressing and finishing Seam ripping and repairs On-body pinning and alteration marking

Experience

Practical experience through internships, school ateliers or part-time work in a tailoring or couture environment is preferred; entry-level candidates with strong portfolio work and vocational training will be considered.

Education

Vocational qualification or current enrolment in a tailoring, couture or fashion programme (BTS, vocational diploma, apprenticeship or equivalent).
