Chanel in Nice seeks an Apprentice Tailoring Assistant (Alternance) to support couture alterations and finishing in the boutique atelier.

Overview

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support senior retoucheurs in executing couture alterations and repairs to Chanel quality standards.
  • Perform hand finishing, precise hemming, basting, seam repairs and delicate stitch work on luxury fabrics.
  • Operate and maintain industrial and domestic sewing machines and specialist tailoring equipment under supervision.
  • Prepare garments for fittings, assist during client appointments and make in‑fitting adjustments as directed.
  • Carry out quality control checks, pressing/steaming and final preparation for delivery to clients.
  • Keep work area, tools and equipment organised; follow atelier safety and care procedures.
  • Participate in formal training sessions and on‑the‑job learning as part of the alternance programme.

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in an alternance/apprenticeship programme or vocational training in couture, tailoring or fashion (Bac Pro, BTS, CAP or equivalent).
  • Excellent manual dexterity and precision in hand and machine sewing.
  • Ability to read basic technical sheets, patterns and alteration instructions.
  • Professional discretion, respect for confidentiality and sensitivity to luxury product care.
  • Good time management and ability to work within strict quality and delivery timelines.

Experience

Previous experience in a tailoring workshop, couture house or through internships/work‑study placements is advantageous but not mandatory; the role is designed for candidates in an apprenticeship pathway.

Education

Currently enrolled in vocational training in couture, tailoring or fashion (alternance/apprenticeship: Bac Pro, CAP, BTS or equivalent).
