Chanel in Paris seeks an Alterations Assistant Tailor (alternance) to support couture retouching and fittings in the Paris atelier.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the atelier’s retouching and alterations workflow under the direction of senior tailors and couturiers.
  • Execute precision hand and machine sewing operations to perform fit adjustments, repairs and finishing to couture standards.
  • Prepare garments for fittings, attend client or internal fittings when required and implement alteration instructions.
  • Operate and maintain sewing equipment and pressing tools; ensure workstations remain organised and compliant with atelier protocols.
  • Inspect altered garments for quality, document interventions and liaise with the fitting team to confirm final corrections.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an alternance (work‑study) programme or similar vocational training in tailoring, couture or fashion construction.
  • Demonstrable manual dexterity and a rigorous eye for detail consistent with couture finishing.
  • Ability to interpret alteration instructions and basic patterns; punctuality and professional presentation for atelier and fittings.
  • Comfort working within a collaborative atelier environment and taking direction from senior craftspersons.

Experience

Entry-level: prior exposure to an atelier, internship or vocational placements in tailoring/alterations is preferred but not required; the role is tailored to candidates beginning a work‑study trajectory in couture or tailoring.

Education

Vocational qualification or current enrolment in a tailoring/couture or fashion construction programme (alternance/work‑study).
