Chanel seeks an Alterationist in Singapore to perform couture-level garment alterations and client fittings for the brand's luxury clientele.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute high-precision alterations and repairs on ready-to-wear and couture garments, ensuring finishes meet Chanel workmanship standards.
  • Conduct client fittings and measure garments on-site, advising clients and sales staff on fit, drape and alteration options.
  • Perform hand-sewing, machine stitching and specialised couture finishes (pad-stitching, hand basting, invisible hems).
  • Interpret and, when necessary, adjust patterns and construction to achieve the intended silhouette and proportion.
  • Maintain accurate alteration records and communicate status updates to sales associates, atelier contacts and clients.
  • Manage atelier supplies and sewing equipment; ensure machines and tools are maintained to preserve fabric integrity.
  • Carry out final quality control checks to verify fit, symmetry and finishing details prior to client delivery.
  • Safeguard client confidentiality and uphold the brand's presentation standards during fittings and alterations.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in tailoring, garment construction or a recognised vocational apprenticeship in sewing/tailoring.
  • Demonstrable mastery of couture handwork and fine finishing techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric behaviour and pattern modification.
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to advise courteously and professionally.
  • High level of manual dexterity, attention to detail and commitment to artisanal standards.

Experience

Typically 3+ years of practical experience performing alterations within a luxury fashion house, couture atelier or high-end retail environment; prior couture experience strongly preferred.

Education

Diploma or certification in tailoring/garment construction, or equivalent vocational apprenticeship in tailoring.
