John Philip Green — Founder & Chief Executive
John Philip Green is the architect of Cerulean’s vision and the engineer of its underlying systems. A serial entrepreneur with three decades of experience at the intersection of technology and human matching, he brings to Cerulean a unique combination of capabilities: the technical depth to build best-in-class infrastructure, the entrepreneurial track record to build organisations of scale, and the genuine passion for the luxury industry that gives Cerulean its particular character.
His previous companies include CareGuide (North America’s leading caregiver matching platform), LearnHub (international education access for millions globally), and Affinity Labs (acquired by Monster Worldwide). He holds an honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
He is the sole founder. Cerulean is bootstrapped, profitable in its core business, and has been built with a conspicuous absence of the dilutive financial engineering that characterises many platform businesses. This is deliberate. It reflects a belief that the most enduring platforms are those built by people who are, above all, focused on serving their community well — not on manufacturing a financial narrative for external audiences.
Advisory Framework
Cerulean’s advisory relationships are structured around three areas where external expertise augments the founding team’s capabilities:
Industry Senior professionals from the luxury industry’s leadership community — creative directors, HR executives, and brand presidents — who ensure that Cerulean’s platform development remains tightly connected to the real needs of the employers and candidates it serves.
Technology Engineering and product leaders from adjacent platform businesses who contribute rigour to infrastructure decisions, architecture choices, and the platform’s long-term technical roadmap.
Commercial Advisors with experience in the media and marketplace business models most relevant to Cerulean’s commercial development, including programmatic advertising, publisher partnerships, and enterprise SaaS.
Governance Standards
Cerulean operates with a governance standard appropriate to a platform that handles sensitive career and personal data for professionals at the highest levels of one of the world’s most prestigious industries. This includes:
- Strict data handling policies and regular privacy audits (see Privacy Policy)
- Clear conflict-of-interest protocols for all advisory relationships
- Financial controls appropriate to an organisation managing material commercial relationships
- Active commitment to the data security frameworks employed by our enterprise partners
